Tatuga School Update: Say Goodbye to Cryptic Filenames! Introducing Inline "File Display Names" 📝📁

No more guessing what 8f3b2a1c_final_v2_edit.pdf means! We are excited to introduce "File Display Names", a quality-of-life update that brings human-readable, fully editable file titles to both teachers and students.

Key Improvements:

  • 🪄 Smart Default Names: From now on, whenever you upload a file, the system automatically preserves and displays the "original filename" instead of stripping it down to an ugly storage path URL segment.
  • ✏️ Instant Inline Renaming: Notice that cute pencil icon next to the delete button? Click it to transform the filename into an editable text field right on the spot. Save (✓) or cancel (✕) instantly without waiting for annoying pop-up modals.
  • 🔗 Custom Names for Hyperlinks: You can now give external URLs a friendly alias (e.g., displaying a messy link as "Click here for reference"). The underlying clickable href and destination remain fully intact.

🔐 Who can edit what?

  • Teachers (Superpowers): You can rename your own assignment attachments and rename files submitted by your students (perfect for organizing student work during grading sessions!).
  • Students: Students can flexibly rename their own submitted files. The materials provided by teachers will remain safely read-only on their assignment portal.

Note: There is no heavy database migration required. For older files uploaded before this update, the system will naturally fall back to the URL's last segment until you click the pencil icon to give it a fresh new name!
